Paramount
Market, limit, and stop-loss orders on a US stock account, what to have ready for a first call, and how the $4.95 and $9.95 commissions are read.
A market order fills at the next price, a limit order waits for your price, and a stop-loss sells if the price falls to a level you set.
Say whether the call is about US stocks, savings, cards, or retirement, and what the money is for.
Standard US stocks start from $4.95. US ETFs start from $9.95. Premium and private-client rows are lower or set for that account.
A market order asks for the best US price available when the order reaches the market. That price can move between the moment you confirm it and the moment it fills.
A limit order sets the most you will pay for a NYSE or NASDAQ stock, or the least you will accept when you sell. It stays open until the market reaches that price or you cancel it.
A stop-loss sells if the price falls to the level you choose. In a fast market the sale can go through below that level.
On an open Paramount account these are the three order types. Watchlists and live homepage quotes are there so you can follow a name before you send an order.
Say whether you want NYSE and NASDAQ stocks, easy-access or fixed savings, or a retirement or education plan. Money you might need this year is not the same job as money you can leave for several years.
Ask about the $4.95 and $9.95 stock commissions, how soon you can take savings out, and which portal screens you will see.
If you already hold stocks elsewhere, name the companies or the index in ordinary words. Account numbers and identity documents stay off the contact form. We will tell you a separate way to send those if we need them.
The rates table has two commission columns. The first is US stocks, from $4.95 on a standard account. The second is US ETFs, from $9.95. “From” means a trade can cost more than that starting figure.
Premium commission is below the standard rate. Private-client commission is agreed for that account. The platform fee is quoted with the schedule, because it is not one number for every client.
Savings use either easy access or a fixed term, and the rate is part of the account papers. Paramount is not a bank and does not issue a bank card from this website.
